Jordan and Pakistan Aim to Strengthen Science and Technology Cooperation

Amman: Higher Council for Science and Technology Secretary-General, Mashhoor Refai, engaged in discussions with Pakistan's Ambassador to Jordan, Khurram Sarfraz Khan, focusing on expanding cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and research.

According to Jordan News Agency, Refai emphasized the robust ties between Jordan and Pakistan, expressing the council's dedication to enhancing partnerships with Pakistani institutions. The discussions highlighted the potential for joint research projects in fields such as biotechnology, renewable energy, information technology, and healthcare, aiming to tackle mutual challenges and enhance knowledge production.

Refai underscored the significance of implementing advanced capacity-building programs, which include student and researcher exchanges, visiting scholar initiatives, and specialized training in research methodologies and academic writing. He also stressed the importance of developing efficient mechanisms for technology transfer and commercialization of research outcomes through licensing agreements, business incubators, and collaborative projects with the industrial sector, transforming innovation into tangible economic value.

Ambassador Khan highlighted the wide-ranging opportunities for cooperation through Pakistani institutions that align with the council's objectives, especially in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies. He emphasized the need to strengthen connections between academia, research centers, and industry. Khan reiterated Pakistan's enthusiasm for establishing practical partnerships focused on joint research projects, exchange of researchers and expertise, and expanding collaboration in technology transfer and business incubators to facilitate the conversion of innovation into economic applications.
