Social Development Minister Highlights Jordan’s Women’s Empowerment Efforts at UN

New york: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa presented Jordan's efforts to promote women's rights and access to justice during a ministerial roundtable at the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York on Tuesday. Bani Mustafa, the Head of the Ministerial Committee for Women's Empowerment, emphasized that Jordan's initiatives are driven by a comprehensive national reform vision that prioritizes women in development and decision-making roles.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa outlined the Kingdom's legislative progress in combating domestic violence, improving reporting mechanisms, and providing training for judges and service providers handling such cases. She also discussed initiatives aimed at expanding specialized services for women, enhancing protection systems, and economically empowering women through social protection programs and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Bani Mustafa underscored the need for justice for women affected by wars and conflicts, calling for stronger international cooperation to safeguard women, children, and civilians. On the sidelines of the session, she engaged in discussions with Moroccan Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family Nama Ben Yahya and President of Egypt's National Council for Women Amal Ammar to explore enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise in women's empowerment and protection from violence.
