New york: The UN Security Council held a session on Tuesday to review the situation in Afghanistan, receiving a briefing from Georgette Gagnon, Acting Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
According to Jordan News Agency, Gagnon stated that the conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan has resulted in significant human and economic losses. She highlighted that recent military escalations in the Middle East are further impacting Afghanistan's economic stability.
Gagnon also mentioned that the UN political mission is working to establish a political path forward for Afghanistan, particularly through the Doha process. This initiative aims to balance realism and patience while upholding the core principles of the United Nations.
