Madaba: The Ministry of Environment and the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission have entered into a collaboration through a cooperation agreement to launch an afforestation project in Madaba Governorate. This initiative, aimed at boosting biodiversity conservation and climate action efforts, is set to be implemented over a 60-month period with a total investment of JD500,000.

According to Jordan News Agency, the project, named the "Forest Biodiversity Conservation and Awareness Project (Plant Complex)," aims to expand forest cover and enhance environmental awareness as a part of the country's national sustainability agenda. This project aligns with the implementation of the Kingdom's Economic Modernization Vision and broader national efforts to combat climate change.

The official agreement saw signatures from Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman and Chief Commissioner of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission, Captain Daifallah Alfarajat. The project is set to focus on conserving forest genetic resources outside their natural habitats, ensuring the long-term sustainability of plant species, and creating an innovative platform to raise awareness about the significance of forest biodiversity in the Kingdom.

During the signing ceremony, Suleiman emphasized that the partnership demonstrates institutional coordination efforts to protect the national environment while furthering the government's economic modernization objectives. Alfarajat highlighted that the commission's involvement underscores its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, supporting initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions and increasing the Kingdom's green cover.
