Jordan and Australia Seek to Bolster Social Development Cooperation

Amman: Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa and Australian Ambassador to Jordan Paula Ganly held discussions on Wednesday to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in social and development fields.

According to Jordan News Agency, Bani Mustafa detailed the ministry's social programs that focus on vulnerable groups, offering protection, care, and development services to build a robust social services system. She emphasized efforts to promote women's economic empowerment and support the most vulnerable families, aiming to increase their self-reliance and facilitate their transition into productive employment, which contributes to sustainable development and capacity building.

The minister also highlighted ongoing initiatives to upgrade social services and expand alternative care programs for individuals with disabilities. These initiatives include early intervention services, inclusive day-care programs, and family-based integration, alongside efforts to replace institutional care with alternative family care. Additionally, she noted progress in promoting women's political participation and advancing the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision's women empowerment strategy, calling for shared experiences and expertise to further enhance service delivery.

Ambassador Ganly reiterated the significance of continued coordination in social sectors and expressed Australia's interest in broadening cooperation in the future.
