Environment Ministry Confirms Qatraneh Factory Emissions Harmless Water Vapor

Qatraneh: The Ministry of Environment stated that the emissions observed from a ceramic tile factory in the Qatraneh district are merely water vapor produced during the clay drying process and are not harmful air pollutants.

According to Jordan News Agency, inspection teams were sent to the factory on Wednesday morning, as directed by Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman, to perform a field inspection as part of the routine environmental monitoring and oversight procedures. The ministry clarified that the vapor emissions were intensified by low temperatures due to current cold weather conditions, and inspections confirmed the absence of any harmful air pollutants.

The ministry further noted that the factory has been environmentally approved since 2023 following the completion of an environmental impact assessment study. It operates advanced bag filter systems in its drying unit, which effectively prevent the release of fine particulate matter into the environment.

To enhance monitoring, the ministry plans to install sensors to measure emissions from the factory's chimney. These sensors will be electronically linked to the ministry's central monitoring system for continuous, real-time oversight.

The ministry emphasized that these actions align with its policy of promptly addressing citizens' concerns and strengthening environmental monitoring and control mechanisms to protect the environment and public health.
