Qatraneh: The Lower House (LH) Foreign Affairs Committee, chaired by MP Haitham Ziyadin, met with the Bulgarian Ambassador to Jordan, Metin Kazak, to explore ways to develop the friendly bilateral relations in various fields:
According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting at the House's headquarters, Ziyadin emphasized the "strong and deep-rooted" Jordanian-Bulgarian relations which are based on mutual respect and shared interests.
Ziyadin noted that Jordan sees Bulgaria as an "important" partner within the European Union and as an "effective" gateway for enhancing joint cooperation, especially in trade, investment, transportation, and tourism. He also highlighted the importance of activating parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening the role of both countries' parliamentary friendship committees to expand joint cooperation and support Jordanian positions in international forums.
On the Palestinian cause, Ziyadin expressed appreciation for Bulgaria's supportive stance on the two-state solution. Discussing regional developments, particularly the Palestinian issue, he reiterated Jordan's position under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, which calls for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international law.
Committee members advocated for bolstering parliamentary, economic, and trade cooperation while leveraging Jordan's "strategic" location as a gateway to regional markets. They also emphasized the need to develop tourism exchange and open new avenues for cooperation in education, culture, and energy.
In response, the Bulgarian ambassador expressed pride in the level of relations with Jordan and affirmed Bulgaria's keenness to expand areas of bilateral cooperation and continue political coordination and consultation on regional and international issues of common interest. He praised the Kingdom's "pivotal" role under King Abdullah II's leadership in promoting security and stability in the region.
