Army Foils Five Drug Smuggling Attempts Using Guided Balloons

Amman: The Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted five drug smuggling attempts early Wednesday, involving electronically guided balloons designed to distract and evade border guard troops. Border guard units, through meticulous monitoring and tracking operations, identified these attempts across different locations.

According to Jordan News Agency, two of the attempts were stopped at the launch site itself, while three balloons were intercepted and their payloads confiscated within Jordanian territory. The substances seized from these operations have been handed over to the competent authorities, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, to initiate the necessary legal procedures.

In a statement, the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) - Arab Army reiterated its dedication to deploying all available resources to prevent smuggling and infiltration, and to confront any threats to national security and stability.
