Amman: The Jordan Phosphate Mines Company (JPMC) and the Arab Potash Company (APC) have announced a joint corporate social responsibility initiative, allocating JD10 million to support government efforts in addressing current challenges and promoting comprehensive development across Jordan's governorates.
According to Jordan News Agency, the chairperson of the JPMC, Mohammad Thneibat, praised the government's decision and the Prime Minister's directives to allocate JD10 million from the emergency expenditure fund to rehabilitate infrastructure, especially in areas affected by recent weather conditions. Thneibat emphasized the government's commitment to protecting citizens, enhancing public services, and ensuring an effective response to the repercussions of exceptional weather events.
Thneibat stated that the JPMC board of directors decided to allocate JD5 million to support national emergency response efforts, including those related to severe weather. He noted that the company would continue to offer its technical and logistical capabilities at its various work sites to administrative governors to strengthen rapid response mechanisms and improve intervention effectiveness during the winter season.
Thneibat highlighted the company's broader developmental and social role, emphasizing its efforts to reduce unemployment by providing sustainable job opportunities, particularly in communities surrounding its operations. He also stressed that partnerships between the public and private sectors are crucial for enhancing national capacity to confront challenges and ensure development continuity.
Chairperson of the APC, Shehadeh Abu Hudeib, remarked that the initiative reflects the firm belief of national companies in their role as genuine partners in development. He noted that social responsibility is a national obligation that strengthens economic resilience and collective capacity to address challenges.
Abu Hudeib stressed the importance of private-sector engagement in supporting government emergency response efforts and reinforcing infrastructure resilience. He mentioned that the APC established a 24-hour operations room to provide technical support and allocated JD5 million to support government efforts in repairing damages caused by recent weather conditions.
Abu Hudeib also commended the government's swift decision to allocate JD10 million to address the weather conditions' impact, highlighting the commitment to protecting citizens and expediting damage repair.
