Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that 235,000 individuals in Gaza have been severely affected by a recent storm, resulting in numerous building collapses and damage to tents.
According to Jordan News Agency, UNRWA disclosed through a post on its official X account that the ongoing conflict and displacement have left people in the Gaza Strip enduring harsh living conditions amidst rubble, makeshift shelters, and worn-out tents. The agency highlighted that 17 buildings have completely collapsed due to the adverse weather, while more than 42,000 tents or temporary shelters have sustained partial or total damage, impacting at least 235,000 residents, as reported by the Gaza Shelter Cluster, which includes UN agencies and non-governmental organizations.
Since the storms began in the Gaza Strip this December, 18 Palestinians, including 4 children, have lost their lives. Furthermore, about 90% of the shelters for displaced individuals, whose homes were destroyed by Israel, have experienced flooding, as reported by UNRWA.
