Aqaba: Senior officials from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) met Wednesday with Czech Ambassador to Jordan, Andrea Kucerova, to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in environmental management, economic development, and investment promotion.
According to Jordan News Agency, ASEZA's Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety, Dr. Nidal Al-Aouran, emphasized Aqaba's status as a national model for integrated environmental and marine ecosystem management. He pointed out the city's ongoing coral reef and seawater monitoring programs, which are implemented in collaboration with both local and international institutions, as key factors in strengthening Aqaba's ability to preserve its marine environment. Additionally, he mentioned that strict regulations on shipping, tourism, and industrial activities have significantly reduced pollution and protected marine habitats.
Dr. Al-Aouran stressed the importance of deepening technical cooperation with Czech environmental institutions. He noted that such partnerships could facilitate joint training programs, enhance local expertise, advance sustainability initiatives, and better equip Aqaba to tackle future environmental challenges, aligning with ASEZA's long-term development strategy.
In the meeting, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment, Dr. Mohammad Abu Omar, detailed the investment incentives and competitive advantages offered by ASEZA. He confirmed Aqaba's readiness to welcome Czech companies and business delegations, highlighting the region's strategic location at the crossroads of three continents, its international trade agreements, advanced port facilities, modern airport, and robust infrastructure, which together make Aqaba an attractive destination for investment.
Ambassador Kucerova praised the progress made in Aqaba and the safe and investor-friendly environment it provides across various sectors. She expressed her country's interest in strengthening cooperation with ASEZA in fields such as economic development, environmental protection, education, healthcare, energy, and film production.
