Heavy Downpour and Thunderstorms Expected Across Jordan on Saturday

Amman:The Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) has forecast a significant drop in temperatures across the Kingdom on Saturday, attributed to the influence of a relatively cool and moist air mass.

According to Jordan News Agency, intermittent downpours are expected in the northern and central regions, as well as in parts of the eastern and southwestern areas of the Kingdom. These rains may turn heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail, potentially leading to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, particularly in the northern and central regions.

The JMD report warns of the risk of flash floods in these areas, along with the dangers posed by thunderstorms. Additionally, low horizontal visibility is anticipated due to dust raised by brisk winds, especially in the Badia. Fog formation is also expected during the morning hours over mountainous regions, parts of the plains, and the Badia.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution due to the possibility of slippery road conditions in areas experiencing rainfall. The weather is expected to change on Sunday, with showers predicted in the northern and central regions and limited parts of the eastern areas. By Monday, conditions are forecasted to be pleasant in most regions, with moderate temperatures in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Today's temperatures are forecasted to range from 18-9°C in Amman, 14-8°C in the northern mountains, 19-10°C in the Badia regions, 18-9°C in the plains, 27-17°C in the Dead Sea, and 26-16°C in the Gulf of Aqaba.
