House Speaker and Bahraini Shura Chairperson Discuss Parliamentary Collaboration

Amman: Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Mazen Qadi met on Wednesday with Chairperson of the Bahraini Shura Council Ali Saleh and his accompanying delegation. Qadi and Saleh discussed aspects of joint parliamentary cooperation between the two countries and ways to strengthen relations under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in a manner that serves the interests of the two peoples and countries.

According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, Qadi and Saleh explored mechanisms for enhancing parliamentary cooperation, stressing the importance of exchanging legislative and parliamentary expertise. They emphasized the necessity of expanding joint coordination in regional and international forums, particularly given the challenges facing the region that require unified Arab positions.

The discussions underscored the depth of the ties that bind Jordan and Bahrain and the keenness of the two countries’ leaderships to reinforce them in a way that achieves their common interests. Qadi highlighted Jordan’s role, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in defending Arab causes, with a particular focus on the Palestinian cause. He reiterated Jordan’s steadfast position in support of Palestinian rights and emphasized the importance of the Hashemite custodianship of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Qadi also noted the strong and deeply rooted relations Jordan maintains with its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) partners, especially with Bahrain, which he described as a cornerstone of the joint Arab action system. He asserted that Jordan views the security and stability of the GCC countries as a natural extension of its national security.

Saleh expressed Bahrain’s view of Jordan as a key partner in strengthening regional security and stability and as an important gateway for unifying Arab efforts amid current challenges. He emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Jordan at all levels, praising the distinguished relations between the leaderships of the two countries and the deep-rooted partnership they reflect, which serves the interests of both brotherly peoples.

Saleh highlighted the importance of a unified and strong Arab stance for defending the causes of the Arab nation and enhancing regional stability. He expressed the Bahraini Shura Council’s appreciation for Jordan’s supportive role in advancing Arab cooperation. He stressed that the relations between Jordan and Bahrain represent a model of joint coordination based on trust, appreciation, and mutual respect. Saleh emphasized the importance of building on existing partnerships between the two legislative institutions through developing parliamentary training programs and exchanging visits and expertise, which contributes to improving legislative performance and strengthening joint parliamentary diplomacy.
