Warsaw: Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Friday called for “full respect” in response to US Ambassador Tom Rose’s criticism of the EU’s Omnibus package, which was launched under the Polish presidency of the bloc in the first half of 2025. Tusk emphasized Poland’s loyalty to the United States, expressing expectations of mutual respect from US representatives.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tusk described the Omnibus package as a triumph aimed at alleviating the bureaucratic load on businesses by streamlining and reducing EU sustainability reporting requirements. He suggested that Ambassador Rose misunderstood the directive, confusing it with a previous regulation.
Rose had taken to the US social media platform X to assert that the package could harm job creation, stifle innovation, and potentially drive American companies away from Europe. He warned that if the legislation, perceived as detrimental to growth and investment, were enacted, it could significantly impact American investments in Europe. Rose assured that President Donald Trump was monitoring the situation closely.
The ambassador urged Poland to spearhead a pan-European campaign against the legislation, suggesting that by doing so, Poland could align itself with President Trump in supporting economic growth and competitiveness.
