Amman: Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani emphasized that Jordan and Egypt share nearly identical positions on significant regional matters, particularly the Palestinian cause.
According to Jordan News Agency, Momani, in an interview with the Middle East News Agency (MENA), asserted Jordan’s refusal of any extreme Israeli right-wing efforts to undermine Palestinian self-determination or pursue detrimental policies such as displacement and starvation. He highlighted that the ongoing challenges in Gaza and the West Bank directly influence both Jordan and Egypt’s sovereignty, noting the steadfast alignment of Amman and Cairo’s positions.
Momani pointed out that the relationship between Jordan and Egypt is foundational to regional stability, with coordination occurring at the highest levels. He emphasized the strong ties between His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, which are built on mutual respect and trust. These ties have been instrumental in joint efforts to maintain Arab and regional security since Jordan’s support for Egypt during the June 30th Revolution.
He further stated that both nations adopt a balanced approach in their policies, aiming to bolster Arab solidarity and support the Palestinian people in securing their legitimate rights. Momani reiterated Jordan’s full backing of Egypt’s initiatives to halt aggression on Gaza, facilitate humanitarian aid, and its crucial role, alongside Qatar and the United States, in negotiating a permanent ceasefire in the region.
Addressing bilateral cooperation, Momani mentioned the recent Jordanian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee meeting in Amman, which fosters joint projects in sectors such as energy, gas, trade, and transportation. He noted that cooperation is broadening into areas like electricity interconnection, mutual investments, and medical collaboration, currently under review by relevant authorities in both nations.
In conclusion, Momani stressed the necessity of responsible media in combating misinformation and cyber threats by delivering precise information and balanced narratives, thus limiting the spread of false news and rumors.
