ASEZA Commissioner and Logistics Company CEO Collaborate to Boost Aqaba’s Public Transport

Aqaba: Mohammad Abdulwadud Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), engaged in discussions with Khaled Morsi, CEO of Aqaba Transport and Logistic Services Company, focusing on enhancing the efficiency and reliability of public transport in Aqaba.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting aimed to address the transportation needs of both residents and visitors, particularly as the academic year begins. The discussions highlighted the importance of organized and safe transport for students, ensuring adherence to safety standards while accommodating the city’s diverse user base.

Abu Omar underscored the role of public transport as a fundamental component of Aqaba’s economic and tourism sectors. He commended the company’s efforts in extending transport services across the city and highlighted the significance of ensuring safe transportation for students as a critical element of the public transport system that ASEZA is committed to strengthening.

Morsi provided insights into the company’s operations, noting that they manage a fleet of 51 buses, covering 86 percent of Aqaba’s internal transport routes. Last year, the company serviced 1.4 million passengers, a number expected to rise with the implementation of updates to the city’s transport plan.

He further elaborated on the company’s future strategies, which include transitioning to smarter operational systems, restructuring routes to increase coverage, and upgrading the bus fleet to enhance service quality. These initiatives are part of a comprehensive plan to elevate the standard of public transport services in Aqaba.
