Over JD 96 Million Invested in Government, Service Projects Across Madaba Governorate

Madaba: Madaba Governorate is witnessing significant construction activity in the government and public service sectors, with projects exceeding JD 96 million in value, spanning works under implementation, recently completed developments, and initiatives currently under study.

According to Jordan News Agency, two major projects are presently underway at an estimated total cost of JD 3.9 million. These include the construction of the Madaba Governorate Building, now approximately 68 percent complete, featuring a three-story administrative structure equipped with offices, halls, and service facilities, alongside accommodations for the governor’s residence.

The second ongoing project involves the Madaba Camp First Health Center, which has reached a 93 percent completion rate. The two-story facility covers an area of 971 square meters and carries a projected cost of about JD 924,000.

The Ministry has also finalized two projects during 2024 and 2025, valued at JD 2.4 million and funded through decentralization allocations. These include the JD 1.78 million al-Sawa’ida Mixed Secondary School, comprising four stories and a basement over 4,170 square meters, and the JD 620,000 expansion and modernization of the Thiban Comprehensive Health Center, which entailed the construction of two additional floors, structural maintenance, and accessibility enhancements.

Looking ahead, the Ministry is advancing eight projects either under study or in the preparatory stages. The most substantial among them is the new Madaba Hospital, planned under a public-private partnership model in cooperation with Sandos Company, with an estimated cost of JD 91 million. Technical studies for the project are currently ongoing.

Further projects include the proposed Teachers’ Club in Madaba, budgeted at JD 3.73 million, which has completed planning and awarded supervision bids but awaits funding for implementation. Meanwhile, the JD 3.85 million Madaba Comprehensive Cultural Center is progressing in planning stages.

Construction of three new schools, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, is also underway. These include the al-Nahda Elementary School for Boys at JD 2.5 million, Lubb Mixed Elementary School at JD 1.08 million, and the Dhiban Housing School at JD 1 million. Supervision contracts have been finalized, while some implementation bids have been floated and others remain under licensing review.

Among healthcare projects under study is the expansion of the al-Azaydeh Health Center (First Western), with technical assessments nearing completion at 95 percent and ongoing coordination with Civil Defense for required specifications, funded through decentralization allocations.

Additionally, future plans include installing an elevator and solar energy system at the al-Wahda Sports Club, budgeted at JD 25,000, with the project ready for tender following allocation of financial resources.
