Amman: Captain Haitham Misto, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), emphasized that the management of Jordanian airspace is grounded in a methodology of continuous risk assessment, ensuring compliance with both international and national aviation safety standards for takeoff, landing, and overflight operations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Misto underscored that effective risk management begins with accurate risk identification, which is crucial for implementing mitigation strategies. He explained that the Commission is committed to monitoring and evaluating potential threats, and is prepared to make decisions such as temporary or full airspace closures when necessary to mitigate identified risks.
He also highlighted CARC’s commitment to civil-military coordination protocols, which align with international standards, and its ongoing regional cooperation with counterpart agencies to ensure the secure and efficient management of air traffic across the region.
Misto further mentioned that the current procedures in place have enabled the continuous openness of Jordanian airspace, facilitating the unhindered movement of air traffic. He noted that Jordan currently manages the travel of approximately 16,000 passengers arriving and departing daily.
