Drone Accident Causes Explosions and Injuries in Azraq

Amman: A drone carrying bombs crashed in Azraq, approximately 100 kilometers east of Amman, leading to explosions and injuries, as reported by a military source from the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army (JAF) on Thursday morning.

According to Jordan News Agency, the incident occurred after the drone escaped its range and crashed into a residential neighborhood. The crash resulted in significant property damage and injuries to two children when the drone’s cargo detonated adjacent to a house. The explosions were described as loud, prompting immediate response from local security and emergency services.

The military source indicated that experts from the Engineering Corps Directorate identified a technical malfunction in the drone’s operating system as the cause of the crash. The impact left a crater measuring 90 cm deep and 3.20 meters in diameter, with the drone’s wreckage found 200 meters away from the point of impact.

Debris from the drone caused additional damage, including the destruction of the front of a house. Security personnel, engineering teams, and civil defense officials quickly arrived at the location to conduct investigations and assist the injured.

Authorities have warned the public against interacting with scattered debris, citing potential hazards and the presence of dangerous substances. They emphasized the need for immediate reporting of suspicious objects to the appropriate authorities and advised against gathering near crash sites.

The JAF has urged residents to adhere to official guidelines, avoid spreading rumors, and rely solely on verified information from credible sources.
