Amman: The School of Foreign Languages at the University of Jordan (UJ) on Sunday held a Russian Language and Culture Day, in cooperation with the Russian Embassy and the Russian Cultural Center in Amman. The event aimed to strengthen bilateral cultural friendship and exchange, providing an opportunity for UJ’s students and the local community to gain a closer understanding of Russian heritage and traditions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Dean of the School, Dr. Marwan Jarrah, highlighted the importance of cultural exchange and the role of language as a bridge of communication. In the presence of the Russian Deputy Ambassador to the Kingdom, Kseniya Kerpichenko, Dr. Jarrah emphasized the school’s ongoing effort to build channels of joint cooperation. He noted that UJ is proud of its academic program to teach the Russian language and is constantly striving to enhance cooperation with prestigious Russian universities.
Meanwhile, the director of the Russian Cultural Center in Amman, Alexey Bukin, noted that the center annually offers 175 scholarships to Jordanian students to complete their studies in various disciplines at Russian universities. This initiative contributes to strengthening mutual academic and popular ties between the two nations.
The Cultural Day program featured various shows that reflected the richness of Russian culture, a screening of a short film about Russia, and other folkloric and literary activities.
