Jordan and Libya Discuss Social Protection Cooperation

Amman: A Libyan delegation visited the National Aid Fund (NAF) on Thursday to learn about Jordan’s experience in social protection, aiming to exchange expertise and strengthen pan-Arab cooperation in this field.

According to Jordan News Agency, during a meeting with the Libyan delegation, the NAF’s Director General, Khitam Shneikat, emphasized the importance of the visit for exchanging pan-Arab expertise, which contributes to enhancing the level of social services for Arab citizens. Shneikat highlighted the visit as a reflection of regional and international bodies’ confidence in the NAF, which has become a model for combating poverty and supporting underprivileged households.

Shneikat reviewed the NAF’s current programs, target groups, and its capability to update its initiatives to keep pace with economic and social developments. She noted that the Unified National Registry has increased the efficiency of providing cash support, eliminating 80% of the required data, which has enhanced spending efficiency and expanded the target groups, enabling the NAF to monitor beneficiary cases monthly.

Additionally, Shneikat underscored the significance of digital transformation in NAF operations, particularly in payments, which has contributed to enhancing financial inclusion.

Concluding their visit, the Libyan delegation expressed pride in the visit and the ideas shared, which would help improve Libya’s social protection system. The delegates also affirmed their keenness to transfer this experience in planning and implementing services provided to impoverished families.
