Amman: National Employment Day 2025 activities kicked off Tuesday in 16 sites across the Kingdom’s governorates from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with participation from private sector institutions and a large number of job seekers.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and saw the involvement of 600 private sector companies from various economic sectors. These companies offered approximately 12,000 job opportunities in the Kingdom’s private education, tourist, medical, engineering, services, professional, and technical sectors.
Labor Minister Dr. Khaled Bakkar inaugurated the day, emphasizing the event as part of the partnership with the Kingdom’s private sector, which is a main employer of Jordanian youth. Bakkar commended the response of private sector companies that participated in the event to boost employment for Jordanians in the labor market.
He further stated that employing Jordanians is one of the ministry’s priorities by connecting job seekers with private sector employers within the Kingdom. This is coupled with efforts to market Jordanian talent by strengthening cooperation frameworks with Arab and foreign countries.
Dr. Bakkar also highlighted the ministry’s commitment to providing job opportunities for youth to ensure a decent life and strives to offer an environment conducive for women. Additionally, the ministry aims to increase the participation of people with disabilities in the labor market, integrating them into society to enjoy their privileges and rights.
The minister noted that the ministry is working on regulating the labor market by establishing a database, in cooperation with several partners. This effort aims to achieve performance indicators that support decisions to increase job opportunities for Jordanians, reduce reliance on expatriate labor, and enable the private sector to achieve economic growth.
On other fronts, the ministry is expanding its partnership with the private sector through the National Employment Programme, which provides wage subsidies to establishments employing Jordanians aged 18-40 across all governorates and economic sectors. Additionally, Dr. Bakkar referred to the establishment of academies that provide skill-based training for youth in specific sectors.
