Jordan Reaffirms Support for Palestinians, Hashemite Custodianship

Algiers: Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s direction, firmly rejects and resists expelling the Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and Gaza, Senator Mohammad Dawoudia, head of the Jordanian parliamentary delegation to the 38th Arab Parliamentary Union Conference in Algeria, stated.

According to Jordan News Agency, Dawoudia highlighted Jordan’s ongoing support for Palestinians in Gaza during the conference, including pioneering aid airdrops and backing efforts to halt the aggression. He mentioned Jordan’s “Restore Hope” initiative for amputees in Gaza, urging others to launch similar health relief efforts.

Dawoudia emphasised the historical role of the Hashemite Custodianship in protecting Jerusalem’s holy sites and preserving their Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity and legal status quo. He affirmed that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, part of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, holds exclusive jurisdiction over Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He stressed the need to implement UN and UNESCO resolutions affirming Al-Aqsa Mosque as a Muslim place of worship and a threatened World Cultural Heritage site due to Israeli violations. Dawoudia praised Egypt’s stance, supported by Arab nations, regarding the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted at the recent Cairo Arab Summit, urging support for this effort.

He stated that Israel will not enjoy security and peace until the Palestinian people gain their right to an independent state on their national soil with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.
