Rabat: A Jordanian official delegation representing the cooperative sector, along with a delegation from the Palestinian Cooperative Work Agency, commenced a working visit to Morocco on Wednesday. The visit, which will continue through the end of the month, focuses on enhancing cooperation and knowledge exchange between the countries in the social and solidarity economy.
According to Jordan News Agency, Nadia Khasawneh, who leads the Jordanian delegation and serves as the director of public relations at the Jordan Cooperative Corporation, emphasized the importance of the visit during a reception by Lahcen Saadi, Morocco’s Secretary of State in charge of Traditional Industry and Social and Solidarity Economy, and Aicha Rifai, Director-General of the Moroccan Office for the Development of Cooperation. Khasawneh underscored that the meeting is crucial for fostering cooperative ties and partnerships, especially among Jordan, Morocco, and Palestine in the sphere of social and solidarity economy.
She further explained that the delegation plans to hold several meetings with relevant stakeholders and conduct field visits to Moroccan cooperatives and institutions engaged in cooperative work. This visit is part of efforts to implement a memorandum of understanding signed between the Jordanian Cooperative Corporation and Morocco’s Office for the Development of Cooperation during the 11th Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers’ Conference held at the Dead Sea last year. The MoU includes measures to strengthen cooperative capacities and support income-generating activities for vulnerable social groups.
The delegation’s itinerary features visits to multiple Moroccan cities, including Rabat, Meknes, Tangier, Tetouan, M’diq, Fnideq, Mohammedia, Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir, and Taroudant. The program also includes meetings with Moroccan officials and discussions on successful cooperative models in different sectors, along with field visits to demonstrate these experiences.
The visit aims to exchange expertise and explore new avenues for cooperation, thereby enhancing the role of cooperatives in the economic and social development of the three countries and supporting the development of sustainable joint initiatives.
