Prince El Hassan Advocates Regional Integration at National Defence College Lecture

Amman: His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal delivered a compelling lecture at the Royal Jordanian National Defence College, entitled “A Foresight Reading of the New Global Geopolitical and Scientific Reality.” The event was attended by notable figures including College Commander Brigadier General Khaled Bani Younes, Assistant for Administration and Human Resources Brigadier General Khalil Dajjah, as well as senior officers of the Jordanian Armed Forces and members of the college’s Guidance, Students and Studies Authority.

According to Jordan News Agency, Prince El Hassan shared his vision for enhancing joint Arab efforts amidst rapid global changes. He emphasized the need to support economic and social development funds and suggested expanding their roles to function as leading regional platforms, similar to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Prince proposed the creation of regional initiatives like the Citizens Council of the Levant, which would address the specific needs of the Levant and Arabian Peninsula.

Prince El Hassan argued that these initiatives, when led and organized by the region itself, could foster regional creative partnerships and promote cross-border cooperation. He expressed concern about the lack of an institutional entity in the region to manage resources and the environment effectively.

The vision put forth by Prince El Hassan is grounded in key components such as policy dialogue, regional coordination, and the enhancement of solidarity and integration. He stressed the significance of integration based on mutual interdependence and cautioned against the politicization of differences that could lead to conflicts and wars.

Focusing on the situation in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem, Prince El Hassan highlighted the importance of Palestinian unity and the resilience of the Palestinian people. He criticized Israel’s exploitation of the energy sector to support its military operations and illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territories, which he described as a violation of international law.
