Amman: The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and Qatar Charity have formalized eight cooperation agreements aimed at implementing humanitarian and development projects in Jordan, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreements are part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing endeavors to support various humanitarian projects, which include emergency and crisis response initiatives, community care programs, and developmental activities. The signing ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent figures such as Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani; Qatar Charity’s General Supervisor in Jordan, Saleh Al-Marri; JHCO Secretary-General, Hussein Shibli; and Awni Al-Bashir, Chairman of the Arab Medical Relief (AMR) Association.
The agreements encompass a range of initiatives, including the construction of solar power stations, distribution of personal hygiene kits at the Azraq Refugee Camp for Syrian refugees, provision of in-kind aid across variou
s Jordanian governorates, and the launch of a mobile health clinic for chronic diseases in southern Jordan, in collaboration with the AMR. They also include contributions to the “Restoring Hope” initiative, which aims to provide prosthetic limbs to Gazans who have suffered amputations, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable families in Gaza.
Furthermore, the agreements provide funding for the acquisition of medical equipment for the Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem. Al-Marri emphasized Qatar Charity’s commitment to strengthening collaborations with pioneering organizations in Jordan to address humanitarian challenges effectively.
Qatar’s Ambassador commended the extensive humanitarian work undertaken by Jordanian institutions, highlighting that these efforts have enhanced Qatar Charity’s regional and global standing. He stated that ensuring aid projects reach a large number of those in need across Jordan, Gaza, and the West Bank strengthens humanitarian response efforts as part of ongoing
initiatives in collaboration with JHCO.
Shibli underscored the continuous collaboration between JHCO and Qatar Charity, describing the agreements as pivotal in supporting local communities, Syrian refugees, and Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. He noted that through this enduring partnership, there is a mutual aim to promote sustainable development and improve living conditions for the most vulnerable groups, in alignment with a shared humanitarian vision.
Al-Bashir highlighted that with the generous funding from Qatar Charity and cooperation with JHCO, the AMR aims to enhance healthcare for individuals with chronic illnesses in southern Jordan, particularly in remote areas where comprehensive health services are lacking.
