Amman: Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan has directed that immediate accommodation be arranged for Wadha Shihab, an elderly woman whose plight recently captured widespread attention on social media. The Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, announced that her ministry had been actively monitoring Shihab’s situation, which came to light yesterday.
According to Jordan News Agency, a specialist team from the Ministry of Social Development visited Shihab’s residence to assess her health and social issues. Following their report, Prime Minister Hassan mandated that accommodations be secured for Shihab. Subsequently, she was transported to a specialized ophthalmology center in Amman, where she underwent a critical surgical procedure on one of her eyes. A follow-up operation is scheduled for next Sunday.
The ministry’s team was present during Shihab’s medical visit to ensure a thorough evaluation of her condition, monitor her progress, and provide all necessary services, Bani Mustafa stated. The minister f
urther highlighted that Shihab received essential medications, supplies, and both financial and in-kind assistance. This support is part of the ministry’s broader commitment to aiding vulnerable and marginalized communities as guided by royal directives aimed at enhancing social service provisions.
