Amman: In a recent announcement, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan revealed that the number of overseas students enrolled in the country’s higher education institutions has reached a significant milestone. Dr. Mamoun Debi’e, the Ministry’s Secretary-General and Head of the Committee for Attracting Foreign Students, disclosed that 51,647 international students have enrolled so far, coming from 113 different countries. This marks an increase of 5,285 students compared to last year’s total of 46,362.
According to Jordan News Agency, the surge in enrollment is attributed to Jordan’s exceptional standing in the global education sector. The ministry highlighted the country’s distinguished reputation, high-quality education outcomes, and the safety and security that Jordan offers. These factors, combined with a range of political, social, and economic incentives, have made Jordan an attractive destination for international students.
In collaboration with the Jordan Tourism Board, t
he ministry has launched initiatives to enhance the experience of non-Jordanian students. One such initiative, themed “You are Jordan’s Ambassadors,” aims to cater to the interests of current students and attract more international candidates. To further this goal, an Executive Plan for the International Student Attraction Strategy for 2023-2027 has been developed and approved by the Council of Ministers.
