Doha: In their Sunday editorials, Qatari newspapers covered several topics, most prominently, Qatar’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted a beach in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
The newspapers stressed that Qatar consistently condemns all forms of terrorism, regardless of their motives or goals, their perpetrators, or location, as it continues its efforts to combat terrorism and address its roots and causes in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions, and in cooperation with the relevant UN bodies.
The newspapers also warned of the dangerous Israeli escalation in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and the region, leading to a comprehensive regional war that would bring destruction and ruin not only to the region but to the entire world.
Al-Sharq newspaper said that Qatar reiterated its firm stance of rejecting violence and terrorism, expressing its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted a
beach in Mogadishu.
The paper highlighted that terrorism and violence are dangerous phenomena that threaten global peace and security. They called for collective international measures to eradicate them fundamentally by finding constructive plans and initiatives to reduce escalation and resolve disputes through dialogue.
The paper continued that the first important step towards achieving the goal of sustainable stability and de-escalation is to sincerely move towards ending these crises by building trust and seeking common interests.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar supports all efforts to promote a culture of peace and dialogue and prevent terrorism and violence, especially in the context of spreading wars and misinformation.
Similarly, Al-Watan newspaper said that Qatar strongly condemned and denounced the beach attack in Mogadishu that resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, reiterated Qatar’s firm position on rejecting violence a
nd terrorism, regardless of the motives and reasons, and expressed the State of Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims and the government and people of Somalia, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
The newspaper added that the Somali authorities revealed that the attack on the public beach resulted in 32 deaths and 63 injuries of varying degrees. All five perpetrators of the attack were killed, and another attack in the capital was thwarted.
The newspaper stressed that the terrorist act unequivocally confirms that the perpetrators of this heinous incident have no connection to Islam as they committed a despicable terrorist act that claimed many innocent lives after the attack on a popular, crowded site.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that there must be solidarity to confront such terrorist operations that lead to the deaths of innocents. Somalia has suffered enough from such acts, and it is time to put an end to them. The problem of violence and terrorism is not only the responsibility of the s
tate but is everyone’s responsibility.
