In local affairs, Al-Raya newspaper said that the dangerous Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Lebanon could lead to a comprehensive regional war, bringing destruction and devastation, not only to the region, but to the world, especially since the criminal occupation authorities have become so brutal to the extent of expressing pride of the crimes they commit in targeting defenseless civilians.
The brutal occupation bombed a school housing displaced people in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood yesterday, after which the occupation officials came out and boasted about destroying an alleged resistance operations room, even though all the victims were civilians (most of them children), while many are still under the rubble. This is not the first time for the occupation to commit this crime; as it is widely known that the Israeli occupation has been committing the most terrorist crimes against the Palestinian people for decades, the paper added.
Al-Raya stressed that the deliberate intensification
of targeting displaced persons’ gatherings in Gaza aims to terrorize Palestinians, which proves that what is happening in Gaza and the occupied West Bank is essentially a genocide of the Palestinian existence.
The children of Gaza, who are searching for security, hope and dignity, have become legitimate targets for this hateful occupation, while the world watches what is happening to them without taking serious action to stop the Israeli war crimes against them. Meanwhile, the leaders of the criminal occupation benefit from this chaos to remain in their positions, promoting imaginary achievements at the expense of the blood of innocent children, women, men, elderly and defenseless civilians, Al-Raya concluded.
For its part, in an article written by its editor-in-chief, Al-Arab newspaper said that the Palestinian cause has always been a source of inspiration and pride for all peoples who demand their legitimate rights to live in dignity, justice and peace. Palestinians have never stopped raising the flag of
struggle and liberation, and the legitimate right to return to the homeland, he said, adding that every time one of Palestine’s leaders for liberation was martyred, another one came to carry out the mission of struggle and liberation with absolute determination and persistence.
The paper stressed that regional and international peace needs serious partners and an international stance against escalation and disregard for the lives of the peoples of the region. The State of Qatar’s historic stance on the Palestinian cause, and its steadfast, patient and resistant people, is a stance that calls for justice, the rejection of violence, and the building of a comprehensive peace project between the Palestinians and the Israelis, in a way that achieves the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
Although Gaza does not possess advanced protection and surveillance systems and technologies, nor an intelligence
apparatus supported by the world’s largest powers, there are honest and patient people in Gaza who are sincere in their efforts, Al-Arab said, pointing out that the Palestinian cause does not die with the death of one of its fighters, and that the rightful owners of the land, right, and history – the people of Palestine, will triumph sooner or later.
Commenting on another issue, English-language newspaper The Peninsula said in its editorial under the title ‘Supporting Olympic Movement’ that the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), led by HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani has affirmed, in a recent meeting that involved the Olympic Family on the sidelines of Olympics Games in Paris, its commitment to serving the Olympic Movement and using the power of sport to make a valuable contribution to social development around the world.
The QOC hosted the IOC members and other officials, where the QOC President said that, “sport transcends boundaries, breaks down barriers, and builds bridges between people of different cul
tures and backgrounds”. In the same context, HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani announced the inclusive sports program as part of Qatar Foundation’s collaboration with the IOC and Education Above All, with the aims to support women and girls, persons with disabilities, and people from marginalized socio-economic backgrounds through sports and education, the paper said.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by noting that Qatar athletes continue their participation in the Olympics with the beach volleyball pair of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan showing a perfect record in the group stage to reach the knockouts, along with Qatar sprinter Shahd Mohamed who recorded a personal best to finish seventh in the third preliminary heats of women’s 100m.
