South Amanat Chief Prosecutor inspects conditions of Alaya Prison and orders release 70 prisoners

The Chief Prosecutor of the Southern Capital Secretariat, Judge Ahmed Al-Qayz, inspected today,Wednesday, the conditions of prisoners in Alaya Reserve Prison. Judge Al-Qayz, accompanied by the Deputy Director of Security of the Capital Secretariat, Brigadier General Taha Shaim, listened to an explanation of the prisoners' cases, the progress of the investigation procedures, their disposition, and their follow-up before the courts. The Chief Prosecutor directed the release of 51 prisoners on bail, who were sentenced to special rights for others, with amounts not exceeding five million riyals, for which they spent periods in prison but were unable to pay them, their rulings became final and irrevocable. He pointed out that during the past two days, 64 detainees were released from police stations, and 31 detainees were directed to be released under investigation on bail. Judge Al-Qayz pointed out that his visit to Alaya Prison comes within the framework of the ongoing field visits of prosecutors to prisons and detention centers in police departments, in implementation of the Public Prosecutor's directives to inspect , ensure the integrity of arrest, detention , investigation procedures, and to accelerate the completion of cases, especially those involving prisoners, before the month of Ramadan.
