A meeting was held at the Office of Industry and Trade in Hodeida Governorate, on Tuesday headed by the President of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qili, to discuss the mechanism for supporting the export of local agricultural products through agents and maritime companies. The meeting, which included the Director of the Office of Industry and Trade in the governorate, Yahya Atifa, and agents, presidents and representatives of shipping companies, was devoted to discussing the available opportunities and factors encouraging the export and shipment of products through export ports and possible facilities to encourage merchants. Al-Qili reviewed the directions of the state and the Supreme Agricultural Committee to export products via sea freight, and the importance of helping and encouraging merchants by providing better means of shipping and delivering products to ensure reducing the cost of export and maintaining the quality of the product. He stressed the need for companies and shipping ag encies to play their role in providing a stimulating and helpful model to encourage the export of agricultural products outside the country, provide the necessary facilities, and compete by providing transportation services and the arrival of products with high quality. During the meeting, the visions and perceptions that shipping agents should implement in creating a mechanism for providing refrigerated containers during the shipping period through export ports were discussed, in a way that ensures the arrival of products in a clean and high-quality manner. The meeting came up with a number of recommendations, to arrange coordination with the Red Sea Ports Corporation, to obtain data and statistics on containers (dry and refrigerated) and to make the necessary arrangements to facilitate the export of agricultural products and crops and encourage merchants in this regard.
