7 Covid-19 deaths, 1,692 infections recorded Wednesday

The Ministry of Health said Wednesday that Jordan recorded 7 coronavirus deaths and 1,692 infections across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 10,983 and the caseload to 856,450.

According to the ministry’s daily brief, the number of currently active cases reached 19,195 with 74 admitted to hospitals today, adding that 55 cases have been discharged. It said that the total number of confirmed cases that are now hospitalized reached 592.

According to the daily report, the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 15 per cent, intensive care beds was 34 per cent and ventilators 18 per cent.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the central region was at 15 percent, intensive care beds 29 per cent and ventilators 10 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 10 per cent, intensive care beds 16 per cent and ventilators 13 per cent, it said.

The ministry said that 1,268 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries by the end of the 14-day isolation period to 826,272.

It also said that 35,920 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests that had been collected since the beginning of the pandemic to 10,845,863, pointing out that the positivity rate for the day was about 4.71 per cent.
