6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes southwest China

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake collapsed homes, killed at least two people and injured three others on Thursday in southwest China’s Sichuan province.

Local authorities said that the casualties were reported at Fuji Township of Luxian county, noting that the quake occurred at 4:33 a.m.

According to China Earthquake Networks Centre (CENC), the epicenter was monitored at 29.2 degrees north latitude and 105.34 degrees east longitude, saying that the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The earthquake relief headquarters of Sichuan has activated a level-II response, the second highest in China’s four-tier earthquake emergency response system.
