47 Killed in Israeli Air Strikes on Lebanon’s Baalbek

Baalbek: Israeli air raids killed 47 people and injured 40 on Saturday in the villages of Nabi Sheet and Shamstar in Lebanon's Baalbek region, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Lebanese army reported in a press release that it had tracked four Israeli warplanes over Khraibeh-Baalbek on the Lebanese border with Syria around midnight. Two of the aircraft reportedly landed troops in the area, accompanied by aerial bombing of neighboring villages.

The Lebanese army stated that its units carried out immediate mobilization and defense measures, deploying flares to illuminate the landing site. However, the enemy force managed to disappear into the darkness.

The operation included shelling and combing actions by the enemy force, which led to an exchange of fire with local residents as the force moved from the landing site to Nabi Sheet. The operation reportedly continued until approximately 3:00 AM.

The Lebanese army confirmed that three of its soldiers, along with a number of civilians, were killed in the Israeli shelling.
