How companies are reducing business travel emissions through small digital changes, according to Holafly for Business

DUBLIN, March 30, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — As companies face increasing pressure from investors, regulators and ESG commitments to reduce their carbon footprint, corporate travel is emerging as an area where small operational changes can deliver measurable impact. New insights from Holafly for Business highlight how rethinking the way employees stay online abroad can contribute to more sustainable global mobility while also helping companies avoid significant roaming costs.

In today’s corporate environment, data access is essential for professionals on the move. From navigating unfamiliar cities to managing bookings, communicating with teams and accessing real-time information, uninterrupted data access underpins productivity across international travel. As Holafly’s broader research shows, internet access is no longer a convenience but a cornerstone of modern travel, with 27.7% of business travelers ranking speed and reliability among their top connectivity priorities.

At the same time, sustainability is becoming a central pillar of corporate strategy. The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda has placed increasing emphasis on reducing emissions across all sectors, including business travel, which remains a significant contributor to corporate carbon footprints. In parallel, companies are also under pressure to optimize travel spend, with global business travel expected to surpass pre-pandemic levels, increasing scrutiny over both cost efficiency and environmental impact.

Against this backdrop, digital-first technologies such as eSIM are gaining traction as a practical way to address both challenges simultaneously. By eliminating the need for physical SIM cards, eSIM solutions remove emissions linked to manufacturing, packaging, shipping and disposal, while also enabling companies to better control mobile data costs across international operations.

Holafly estimates that replacing traditional SIM cards with eSIM technology can save approximately 114.7 grams of CO₂ per user. For a multinational company with 40,000 employees using corporate mobile lines while traveling internationally, this could translate into a reduction of around 4.6 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, roughly equivalent to the annual emissions of a typical passenger car. As Earth Month puts sustainability into sharper focus, corporate travel is increasingly shaped by solutions that combine efficiency with responsibility.

“Companies don’t need to overhaul their travel programs to make progress on sustainability,” said Alex Bryszkowski, VP of Holafly for Business. “With Holafly for Business, they can reduce emissions linked to physical SIM cards while also gaining greater control over mobile data costs and ensuring employees with peace of mind from the moment they arrive. It’s about making global mobility simpler and more aligned with corporate sustainability goals.”

About Holafly
Holafly is the global leader in eSIMs for travelers, offering coverage in over 200 destinations. With an outstanding 4.6/5 rating on Trustpilot and more than 15 million satisfied users, it has become the preferred eSIM choice for international travelers. Its unlimited data offering ensures peace of mind anywhere in the world.

Energy-Efficient Devices Widely Available in Jordan as Prices Hold Steady

Amman: Energy-efficient electrical appliances remain widely available in Jordan’s local market, with stable prices and uninterrupted supply chains, easing concerns over shortages and reducing the need for precautionary buying, according to sector representatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hatem Al-Zoubi, representative of the electrical and electronics sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, said supply levels are strong and goods continue to flow smoothly into the market, supported by steady import activity.

He noted a growing shift in consumer demand toward solar-powered systems, particularly for lighting purposes, as households increasingly seek alternative energy solutions and strengthen precautionary measures amid regional uncertainties.

Demand is currently concentrated on solar panels and their components, including batteries and charging units, in addition to small-scale lighting systems, solar chargers, and residential and garden lighting units. Al-Zoubi said demand for batteries linked to
solar systems is rising notably, driven by increased reliance on off-grid and backup energy solutions.

Despite the uptick in demand, Al-Zoubi emphasized that these products remain available in sufficient quantities across the market, with no significant price increases recorded. He attributed price stability to adequate inventory levels and continued import flows.

On the supply side, shipments of electrical appliances continue to arrive through Aqaba Port from China and other East Asian countries. Al-Zoubi said these trade routes pass through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and are not affected by ongoing developments in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring continuity in supply chains.

He warned consumers against installing solar energy systems through unlicensed providers, stressing the importance of working with officially registered companies and securing approvals from relevant authorities, noting that violations could lead to financial penalties or technical risks.

Al-Zoubi also cautioned against misleading adver
tisements circulating on social media, particularly those promoting low-cost or unidentified lighting products. He said such items are often of inferior quality and may not comply with Jordanian technical standards.

He reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to providing products that meet approved specifications and safety requirements, urging consumers to purchase from trusted and verified sources.

The Jordan Chamber of Commerce, he added, continues to coordinate with government entities, including the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to streamline procedures and address any logistical challenges facing the sector.

Jordan’s electrical appliances market remains highly competitive, supported by a wide range of import sources and a large number of operators. The sector includes more than 3,000 traders across the Kingdom and provides approximately 25,000 jobs, reflecting its role as a key component of the domestic retail economy.

Arab Parliament Denounces Israeli Legislation on Executions of Palestinian Prisoners

Cairo: President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, strongly condemned the Israeli occupation Knesset’s approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners. He emphasized that this legislation represents a grave crime and a blatant violation of international laws and conventions, particularly the Geneva Conventions, which safeguard prisoners’ lives and their right to protection.

According to Jordan News Agency, Al-Yamahi described the law as a dangerous escalation in the systematic killing policy pursued by Israeli authorities against Palestinians, labeling it as a war crime and a crime against humanity. He asserted that the law exposes the true nature of Israeli policies driven by revenge and physical elimination, reflecting a blatant disregard for international efforts aimed at peace and justice in the region.

Al-Yamahi called on the international community, including the UN Security Council, Human Rights Council, human rights organizations, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to fulfill their legal and moral obligations. He urged them to take immediate action to stop this serious violation by adopting measures to hold Israeli leaders accountable and to provide international protection for Palestinian prisoners.

He also appealed to regional and international parliaments to suspend the Knesset’s membership in international forums, particularly the Inter-Parliamentary Union, citing the legislation as a violation of parliamentary and humanitarian values. Al-Yamahi affirmed that the issue of prisoners remains a priority for the Arab Parliament and stressed that efforts to undermine this cause will not break the Palestinian people’s will or erase their rights, including their right to freedom, self-determination, and establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Industry Minister Unveils Plan to Ensure Basic Goods Supply and Price Stability

Amman: Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah announced that the ministry has developed a comprehensive plan to mitigate the effects of regional tensions on the supply chain, ensuring the availability of essential goods and maintaining stable prices. This initiative aims to safeguard the Kingdom’s access to basic commodities amidst ongoing challenges.

According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry is collaborating with the private sector to enhance strategic reserves of essential goods. The partnership has shown a commendable level of responsibility in supporting and replenishing the Kingdom’s reserves. This cooperative effort is crucial to maintaining the availability of staple goods across the nation.

The ministry is conducting thorough and frequent monitoring throughout the Kingdom to ensure the availability of staple goods and to prevent any attempts at price manipulation or hoarding. The minister emphasized that the law will be strictly enforced against any violations, ensuring a fair marketplace for consumers.

Qudah highlighted that the ministry is prepared to intervene directly to regulate prices if there are any unwarranted discrepancies between production or import costs and retail prices, especially for essential food items. By implementing price ceilings, the ministry aims to ensure fairness and maintain market stability.

Additionally, Qudah mentioned government support for civil and military consumer corporations, which play a vital role in securing basic food commodities at reasonable prices. He reassured the public that the food supply situation in the Kingdom is stable, with a consistent flow of imports through land borders and the Port of Aqaba.

Current reserves of key commodities are sufficient, with wheat reserves projected to last over ten months, barley for about eight months, and other staples like sugar, rice, oils, and legumes for up to three months. This strategic management ensures that the Kingdom is well-prepared to meet its food supply needs in the coming months.

US Stocks Mixed as Oil Surges Above $104 a Barrel

Amman: Major US stock indices fluctuated on Monday, while US crude oil, West Texas Intermediate, rose by more than $4 to reach $104.03 per barrel. Although the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up by 50 points to 45,216 points, the Nasdaq index declined again by about 153 points to 20,794 points. The SandP 500 index also fell by around 25 points to 6,343 points.

According to Jordan News Agency, the rise in oil prices comes amidst ongoing global economic concerns, potentially impacting various sectors and influencing investor sentiment. The energy sector showed signs of strength due to the spike in crude prices, while technology stocks remained under pressure, contributing to the decline in the Nasdaq index. The fluctuating indices indicate varying investor confidence across different sectors in response to the surge in oil prices.
