Petra Attracts 2,295 Visitors During Eid al-Fitr Holiday


Petra: The Petra Archaeological Park recorded a solid influx of visitors during the first three days of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, welcoming a total of 2,295 tourists of various nationalities.

According to Jordan News Agency, official figures released by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority showed that 595 visitors entered the site on Friday. This number included 115 foreign tourists, 9 Arab visitors, 146 Jordanians, and 325 residents.

Visitor numbers rose on Saturday to 861, comprising 176 foreigners, 55 Arab tourists, 427 Jordanians, 7 visitors included in the “Urdunna Jannah” (Our Jordan is Paradise) program, in addition to 203 residents.

On Sunday, the site received 839 visitors, including 431 foreign tourists, 28 Arabs, 253 Jordanians, and 127 residents.

The figures indicate a noticeable improvement in tourism activity in the Rose City during the holiday period, particularly with the significant increase in foreign visitors on Sunday. This trend reflects the continued recovery of Jordan’s
tourism sector and renewed international interest in the Kingdom’s archaeological destinations.

Foreign Minister Engages in Dialogue with Qatari Counterpart on Regional Tensions


Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi held a telephone conversation Monday with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.



According to Jordan News Agency, the discussion focused on strategies to end the regional escalation while working towards restoring security and stability. Both ministers emphasized the importance of advancing dialogue and diplomacy in addressing the ongoing issues. They also expressed mutual solidarity against Iranian attacks that have impacted both countries.



During the conversation, Minister Safadi extended Jordan’s condolences following the deaths of four members of the Qatari Armed Forces in a helicopter crash attributed to a technical malfunction. Additionally, three Turkish nationals serving with the joint Qatari-Turkish forces perished in the same incident.

Central Bank of Jordan Issues New Five-Dinar Banknote During Eid Holiday


Amman: The Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) announced the release of five-dinar banknotes signed by the Minister of Finance and the CBJ Governor. These new banknotes were introduced into circulation during the Eid holiday.



According to Jordan News Agency, the CBJ emphasized that the newly released five-dinar notes are considered legal tender and are issued without any restrictions. These notes will circulate alongside previously issued banknotes of the same denomination.



The CBJ clarified that the newly released notes are part of the fifth series currently in circulation. They are identical to previous notes in design, appearance, and security features. The only difference is the signatures, which reflect different issuance dates but do not affect the authenticity or value of the banknotes.

Israeli Airstrikes Target Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, Southern Lebanon


Beirut: Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes Monday evening targeting residential areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs and towns in southern Lebanon. A Lebanese security source reported that five strikes were conducted in total.



According to Jordan News Agency, three of the strikes hit the Sayyid Al Shuhada complex in Roueiss, the Burj Al Barajneh neighborhood, and the Bir Al Abed neighborhood in Beirut’s southern suburbs. The other two strikes targeted the towns of Beit Leef and Bayada in southern Lebanon.

Israeli Fire Targets UNIFIL Headquarters in Southern Lebanon


Naqoura: The area surrounding the headquarters of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the border town of Naqoura came under artillery fire from Israeli positions across the border on Sunday afternoon, a Lebanese security source said. No injuries were reported.



According to Jordan News Agency, the source told Petra’s correspondent in Beirut that the same location had also been shelled the previous day. He added that Israeli warplanes carried out intensive flights over the eastern sector of southern Lebanon.



The source further said that Israeli airstrikes resumed around the Qasmiyeh Bridge, targeting a key water crossing that had already been hit twice the day before. The crossing serves as a vital link between communities on both sides of the Litani River and nearby towns.
