King Abdullah II Engages Political and Media Leaders on Key Issues


Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II held a meeting on Wednesday with political and media figures, which covered key local, regional, and international issues.



According to Jordan News Agency, during the meeting, held at Al Husseiniya Palace, His Majesty affirmed that Jordan is moving forward with the implementation of a number of megaprojects in vital sectors to strengthen the national economy and serve citizens.



On regional issues, the King reiterated that Jordan places its interests and those of its citizens above all other considerations, noting that the Kingdom is working to restore stability in the region. Turning to developments related to Iran, His Majesty said Jordan hopes tensions will be de-escalated through peaceful means, reaffirming the Kingdom’s position in support of diplomacy and dialogue.



The King also talked about Jordan’s relations with Syria, stressing that the Kingdom is invested in Syria’s stability, and that coordination is ongoing between the two countries’ institutions to expand cooperation and exchange expertise across all fields. His Majesty reaffirmed the importance of ensuring implementation of the agreement to end the war on Gaza in all its stages, and halting Israeli escalations in the West Bank.



The King commended the attendees’ efforts to disseminate accurate and factual information, and promote national spirit, stressing the need for the national interest to be at the heart of political and media discourse. For their part, the attendees discussed a number of local and international issues related to politics, economic sectors, and media.



Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh attended the meeting.

King Abdullah II Holds Discussions with Egyptian Armed Forces Chief of Staff


Amman: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa, on Wednesday, according to a royal court statement. The discussions took place at Al Husseiniya Palace and included the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.



According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting focused on the strong ties and longstanding friendship between Jordan and Egypt. Both parties explored ways to enhance cooperation in military and defense fields, while also addressing the latest regional developments. The meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership.



The discussion was further attended by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti, highlighting the significance of the meeting in fostering military collaboration between the two countries.

FM Meets EU Official to Discuss Defense Cooperation and Regional Stability


Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi received Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary-General for Common Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service (EEAS), for a discussion on enhancing defense cooperation and regional stability.



According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi highlighted the strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union, emphasizing both parties’ commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields, particularly in defense and security. He underscored the significance of building on the outcomes of the Jordanian-European Summit held in Amman on January 8.



The meeting also focused on regional issues, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, along with efforts to achieve security and stability in the region. Earlier in the day, Fries and Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Daifallah Fayez co-chaired the first security and defense dialogue between the EU and Jordan. This dialogue is part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Jordan and the EU, aimed at following up on the outcomes of the first Jordan-EU summit.

Amman to Host Meeting on Yemen Prisoner Exchange


Amman: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced that Amman is set to host a meeting for the Supervisory Committee on the implementation of the Prisoner Exchange Agreement in Yemen. This meeting will take place under the auspices of the United Nations from February 5 to 19.



According to Jordan News Agency, the ministry’s official spokesperson, Fouad Majali, affirmed the Kingdom’s support for the efforts of the United Nations, as well as Arab and international initiatives aimed at achieving peace, security, and stability in Yemen. These efforts are intended to fulfill the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
