Amman: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi received Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary-General for Common Security and Defence Policy at the European External Action Service (EEAS), for a discussion on enhancing defense cooperation and regional stability.
According to Jordan News Agency, Safadi highlighted the strategic partnership between Jordan and the European Union, emphasizing both parties' commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields, particularly in defense and security. He underscored the significance of building on the outcomes of the Jordanian-European Summit held in Amman on January 8.
The meeting also focused on regional issues, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, along with efforts to achieve security and stability in the region. Earlier in the day, Fries and Foreign Ministry Secretary-General Daifallah Fayez co-chaired the first security and defense dialogue between the EU and Jordan. This dialogue is part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Jordan and the EU, aimed at following up on the outcomes of the first Jordan-EU summit.
