2 killed, 12 missing in north China chemical plant explosion

Amman, Two people are dead and 12 are missing after an explosion at a chemical plant in northeastern China on Sunday, the Chinese state television said on Monday.

In addition, another 34 people were injured in the explosion on the outskirts of the city of Panjin in Liaoning province east of the capital Beijing.

News releases from the state television showed photos of flames and thick black smoke rising from the complex of chemical processing machinery, pipes and storage containers.

China, with the world’s second-largest economy, suffers deadly industrial accidents on a regular basis.
