Two people were killed and 12 others injured after a three-story building collapsed on Monday in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
Police said that a building in the Fatehpur Kotwali area suddenly collapsed, resulting in the death of two and the injury of 12 others. The injured were admitted to hospital for treatment.
Rescue operations are still ongoing to save three people trapped under the rubble, police added.
The reasons that led to the building's collapse have not been known yet.
Such incidents, whether in new or old buildings, are common in India. Construction experts blame these incidents on poor management, which results in the use of low-quality building materials, and on the poor safety supervision.
