17 Covid deaths, 8,170 infections recoded Saturday

The Ministry of Health Saturday registered 17 coronavirus deaths and 8,170 infections across the Kingdom, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 13,174 and the caseload to 1,197,250.

The positivity rate of PCR tests collected today was 23.60%, and the number of currently active Covid-19 cases stood at 77,899, with 213 admitted to hospitals today that raised to 870 the number of infections now being hospitalized, according to the ministry’s daily media brief.

On hospital capacity, it said the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 14%, intensive care 27% and respirators 10%.

In the central region, the occupancy rate of isolation wards was 27%, intensive care 43% and respirators 16%, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was 10%, intensive care wards 7% and respirators 4%, according to the figures.

The ministry also said 6,289 Covid patients have recovered, bringing total recoveries expected at the end of the 14-day isolation period to rise to 1,106177.

On vaccinations, it said those who got the first jab against Covid now numbered 4,570,229 and the number of people who received the second shot climbed to 4,197,442.
