16 Covid-19 deaths, 1,855 infections recorded Saturday

The Ministry of Health said Saturday that it recorded 16 coronavirus deaths and 1,855 infections across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 11,347 and the caseload to 911,270.

According to the ministry’s daily brief, the number of currently active cases reached 37,563 with 138 admitted to hospitals today, adding that 79 cases have been discharged. It said that the total number of confirmed cases that are now hospitalized reached 845.

According to the daily report, the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 26 per cent, intensive care beds was 38 per cent and ventilators 20 per cent.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the central region was at 22 percent, intensive care beds 37 per cent and ventilators 13 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 14 per cent, intensive care beds 13 per cent and ventilators 15 per cent, it said.

The ministry said that 2,097 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries by the end of the 14-day isolation period to 862,360.

It also said that 22,799 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests that had been collected since the beginning of the pandemic to 11,709,248, pointing out that the positivity rate for the day was about 8.14 per cent.

Some 4,074,863 received the first COVID-19 jab, while 3,667,344 received the two jabs, the brief added.
