11 Covid-19 deaths, 2,577 infections recorded Tuesday

The Ministry of Health said Tuesday that Jordan recorded 11 coronavirus deaths and 2,577 infections across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 11,156 and the caseload to 880,943.

According to the ministry’s daily brief, the number of currently active cases reached 26,185 with 104 admitted to hospitals today, adding that 95 cases have been discharged. It said that the total number of confirmed cases that are now hospitalized reached 630.

According to the daily report, the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 21 per cent, intensive care beds was 38 per cent and ventilators 17 per cent.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the central region was at 15 percent, intensive care beds 31 per cent and ventilators 12 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 12 per cent, intensive care beds 15 per cent and ventilators 16 per cent, it said.

The ministry said that 1,692 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries by the end of the 14-day isolation period to 843,602.

It also said that 42,932 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests that had been collected since the beginning of the pandemic to 11,280,788, pointing out that the positivity rate for the day was about 6 per cent.

Some 4,018,208 received the first COVID-19 jab, while 3,583,974 received the two jabs, the brief added.
