10 Covid-19 deaths, 1,723 infections recorded Sunday

The Ministry of Health said Sunday that Jordan recorded 10 coronavirus deaths and 1,723 infections across the Kingdom, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 11,038 and the caseload to 862,541.

According to the ministry’s daily brief, the number of currently active cases reached 21,052 with 78 admitted to hospitals today, adding that 67 cases have been discharged. It said that the total number of confirmed cases that are now hospitalized reached 590.

According to the daily report, the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was 15 per cent, intensive care beds was 34 per cent and ventilators 15 per cent.

The occupancy rate of isolation beds in the central region was at 15 percent, intensive care beds 27 per cent and ventilators 9 per cent, it said.

In the southern region, the occupancy rate of isolation beds was at 11 per cent, intensive care beds 12 per cent and ventilators 12 per cent, it said.

The ministry said that 1,715 Covid-19 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of expected recoveries by the end of the 14-day isolation period to 830,451.

It also said that 30,035 PCR tests were conducted today, bringing the total number of swab tests that had been collected since the beginning of the pandemic to 10,968,136, pointing out that the positivity rate for the day was about 5.74 per cent.
