1 Palestinian killed, 6 injured by Israeli army fire

Ramallah, Israeli forces on Monday killed a Palestinian man and injured six others during a raid of a refugee camp near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank that sparked clashes with local youths.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said soldiers stormed homes in Dheisheh refugee camp using live rounds, tear gas and stun grenades against local people who confronted them. It said a 22-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest and six others sustained various injuries and were transferred to local hospitals.

The local coordination committee in Bethlehem called for a general strike to condemn the killing of the man and urged local people to participate in his funeral.

Today’s killing brings to 212 the number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation army this year, 160 in the West Bank and 52 in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
