Amman: The head of the Association of Owners of Clearance and Transport Companies (AOCTC), Deifallah Abu Aqouleh, has announced that 1 million customs declarations have been processed by the sector’s companies at the Kingdom’s customs and border centers since the beginning of this year. This milestone marks a significant achievement in the nation’s customs operations.
According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Aqouleh highlighted this figure as a first in the Kingdom’s history, showcasing the effectiveness of economic activity within the country, which has been on an upward trajectory since the start of 2025. He commended the Jordanian Customs Department (JCD) and various security agencies for their role in expediting work at customs centers, ensuring rapid completion of transactions.
Abu Aqouleh noted that the processed customs declarations encompass exported, imported, and transit goods, reflecting significant development in the customs system and demonstrating close cooperation between the public and private sectors. This record increase is attributed to the various official bodies at customs centers that have expedited clearance procedures and improved logistical services, enhancing operational efficiency.
Discussing the measures behind this growth, Abu Aqouleh stated that increased working hours at customs centers, development of JCD’s e-services, and reduced processing periods for goods, especially transit shipments, have accelerated customs transactions and alleviated congestion at Jordan’s border centers and ports.
He further indicated that the rapid processing of transactions by the JCD and security agencies reflects a genuine partnership between the various entities in the sector, aimed at facilitating procedures and removing obstacles to the movement of goods and trade.
According to official data, there are a total of 467 licensed customs clearance companies operating in the Kingdom, with 2,000 branches distributed across all customs and border centers, providing approximately 10,000 job opportunities for Jordanians.
