Zarqa:Zarqa Municipality has intensified its field operations to tackle the severe weather conditions affecting the city. Efforts include clearing storm drains and implementing precautionary measures to ensure public safety and maintain traffic flow.
According to Jordan News Agency, Khaled Al-Khashman, Chairman of the Zarqa Municipal Committee, stated that proactive steps were taken prior to the rainstorm. These steps included inspecting drainage infrastructure, monitoring low-lying hazard zones, and raising operational readiness levels.
Al-Khashman elaborated that field personnel were organized into 12 primary response teams and two backup units to ensure comprehensive coverage and swift emergency intervention. The teams addressed various weather-related incidents, such as setting up concrete barriers to prevent residential basement flooding and pumping out rainwater from a local underpass to restore normal traffic flow.
A brief power outage occurred during the underpass pumping operation but was resolved quickly. Al-Khashman emphasized the municipality's commitment to continuous monitoring and urged residents to report any blocked drains or standing water to local emergency services.
