Amman: The Public Safety Committee in Zarqa Governorate conducted an intensive inspection tour across several food establishments, uncovering violations and initiating necessary legal and administrative measures against the offending entities, in collaboration with relevant regulatory authorities.
According to Jordan News Agency, Acting Governor of Zarqa, Muhyiddin Adwan, reported that the committee's inspection tour over the past two days resulted in the destruction of 283.5 kilograms of meat and food products deemed unfit for human consumption.
Adwan further noted that 22 head of sheep were transferred to the Greater Amman Municipality slaughterhouse for necessary veterinary checks to ensure their safety. The veterinary tests revealed that 17 heads were unfit for human consumption and were handled following established procedures to safeguard public health and safety.
Emphasizing the continuation of the committee's regular field inspection tours, Adwan pledged zero tolerance for violations or transgressions impacting public health or contravening public safety requirements. He urged food establishment owners to comply with approved health instructions, standards, and requirements to enhance the food safety oversight system and contribute to a healthy and safe environment for citizens.
