Yarmouk University and Canadian Embassy Explore Academic Collaboration

Amman: President of Yarmouk University, Islam Massad, met with a delegation from the Canadian Embassy in Amman to explore avenues for enhancing academic collaboration between the two sides. The meeting underscored the mutual interest in strengthening ties and expanding joint initiatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Canadian delegation included Embassy Head of Cooperation, Simon Snoxell, Regional Coordinator Marie Chdid, and Nancy Momani, Director of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) – Jordan Office. Massad praised the longstanding cooperation between Yarmouk University and the Canadian Embassy, noting the successful implementation of numerous scientific and research projects that have positively impacted education, sustainable development, and economic empowerment.

He emphasized the importance of the joint project, “Empowering Women and Youth to Safeguard Intangible Cultural Heritage,” which is carried out by the university’s Refugees, Displaced Persons, and Forced Migration Studies Center in collaboration with the embassy and WUSC. This project highlights the university’s commitment to addressing social issues through academic initiatives.

Snoxell reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to strengthening its existing ties with Yarmouk University. He expressed a keen interest in fostering partnerships between Canadian universities and Yarmouk in various fields, which would contribute positively to both academic and research development.
